After World War II, this art was suppressed, but in recent years it has been revived by the OZ Cziffer association by publishing a catalog of ornaments and organizing competitions and lectures, such as the Mária Hollósa competition.

The first competition was in 2015. Participants come from several countries, so it is international competition and high quality exhibition.

There are four categories:
- embroidery on interior textiles
- clothing
- copy of old embroidery
- embroidery on the theme Home

"Visitors had the opportunity to see typical old embroidery, cross-stitched textiles and several specific paintings measuring 1×1 meter.

Slovak embroideries, which were awarded in the competition in previous years, became known not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the USA and Australia. The winning works from individual years will be presented in more detail in embroidery associations overseas.

Another year, the competition included an exhibition of embroidery, lectures, a fashion show and for all participants of the event the activity Sign up for embroidery - embroider the Cífer church on a joint embroidery.

The importance of embroidery lies in the ability to express thoughts, attitudes, get rid of stress, and pass on cultural heritage. Handicrafts in general are important for mental health, they relieve a person of anxiety, strengthen self-confidence, and fulfill their life. Their therapeutic effect has been proven in the form of relaxation, art therapy (embroidery as a reflection of experience, a way of expression), and they even help to actively manage stress and pain. The discussion of the panel participants showed that even today, the main attribute of the embroidery process is differentiation."
